ANNEXURE XI
MINIMUM INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS AND PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
Interpreted and applied to the inspection scheme referred to in Section 12 and 13 of the Ecocert-Afrisco standards for organic agriculture
E. Units involved in the production, preparation or import of products which have contracted out to third parties in part or in total the actual operations concerned.
Initial inspection
With regard to the operations, which are contracted out to third parties, the full description referred to in Section A2 above shall include
- a list of the subcontractors with a description of their activities and the inspection bodies or authorities to which they are subject; these subcontractors must have agreed to have their holding being subject to an accredited inspection regime, in accordance with the relevant sections of this annexure;
- all the practical measures, including inter alia an appropriate system of documentary accounts, to be taken at the level of the unit to ensure that the products the operator places on the market can be traced to their suppliers, and, where different, their sellers, as well as to their consignees and, where different, their buyers;
the contrated party shall be inspected by Ecocert-Afrisco before the use of the contrated product or service. Subsequent inspections shall be made annually or at a frequency determined on a case-by-case basis providing that Ecocert-Afrisco documents the reasons for the reduced frequency.
