We welcome your enquiry about possible organic certification by AFRISCO or ECOCERT. This website describes the application procedures, and what you can expect in the certification process. This office provides inspection and certification in Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
For South Africa we recommend Afrisco certification to the Department of Agriculture's draft organic standards. This is a little cheaper since it does not include export certification.
We also provide a copy of the organic standards that you will be expected to uphold in South Africa, and application forms for you to apply to AFRISCO for certification.
For export markets you will need Ecocert organic certification to the standards of the importing countries (such as E.U., U.S., and Japan), and we will be happy to provide all the documents you need to get started, including organic standards and application forms.
Ecocert now offers organic certification for production of food, beverages, cosmetics and textiles, as well as Fair Trade certification and EurepGAP. You can also find more information on www.ecocert.com.
