Section 10: Cleaning, disinfection and sanitizing
A list of the cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing agents allowed for buildings and installations is indicated in Annexure IX.
Necessary precautions shall be taken to protect organic food against contamination by cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing not approved for use in certified organic facilities.
Organic
food can come into contact with surfaces where approved cleaner, sanitizer
or disinfectant has been used only after any one of the intervening
events, as listed below, have been used:
(i) Hot water rinse.
(ii) Flush with organic products, that
is not sold as organic.
(iii) Adequate time for the substance
to volatilize.
Residues of boiler water additives shall be prevented from coming in contact with organic food.
